WWE SummerSlam 2026 Results As Liv Morgan Beats Iyo Sky In Instant Classic

At WWE SummerSlam 2026, Liv Morgan looked to turn around what has been a lackluster Women’s World Championship reign, but Iyo Sky stood in her way.

Since winning the title at WrestleMania 42 in April, Morgan has underwhelmed as champion through no fault of her own. WWE hasn’t given her anything substantial to sink her teeth into, but after Sky won the Queen of the Ring tournament, she stepped up as a truly formidable challenger for Morgan.

Amid significant drama in Morgan’s The Judgment Day stable, the group’s unofficial leader went toe-to-toe with Sky inside U.S. Bank Stadium at WWE SummerSlam.

WWE SummerSlam 2026 Results For Liv Morgan Vs. Iyo Sky

It had been more than 100 days since Liv Morgan had defended her title, and at WWE SummerSlam 2026, she finally did so successfully.

This time around, she didn’t need help from Judgment Day stablemates Raquel Rodriguez or Roxanne Perez, either. Instead, Morgan defeated Iyo Sky with a picture-perfect Oblivion to retain the Women’s World Championship.

Here are the key moments and biggest highlights from Sky vs. Morgan at WWE SummerSlam:

  • Morgan attacked Sky from the jump and quickly took control, but Sky mounted a comeback with a sliding takedown and a basement dropkick. Then, Morgan regained control by slamming Sky into the barricade and then hitting a basement dropkick of her own.
  • Morgan hit the three Amigos suplexes in homage to Eddie Guerrero and followed it up with a step-up enziguiri for a two-count. Sky nearly pinned Morgan with a roll-up and then hit a standing stomp to the chest before mounting a brief comeback.
  • Sky went to the top rope and nailed a picturesque missile dropkick and then fired up the Minneapolis crowd. She then nailed a Bullet Train running knee attack, but Morgan rolled to the apron. Sky was able to hit a sunset flip power bomb to the outside, much to the crowd’s delight.
  • As Sky went to the top rope again, Roxanne Perez showed up and distracted the referee. That allowed Raquel Rodriguez to choke slam Sky off the top rope. Morgan went for the pin but shockingly only got a two-count. Perez tried to interfere again, but Sky avoided it and tossed Morgan onto Perez and Rodriguez on the outside.
  • Sky hit a Moonsault onto the outside taking out Perez and Rodriguez as the crowd erupted again. As Sky tried to get back in the ring, Morgan nailed her with a headscissors DDT. Morgan and Sky went to the top rope, and Sky hit a beautiful Spanish Fly for a very close nearfall.
  • Both women stayed down for a while, then stood up and exchanged blows to dualing crowd chants. Eventually, Sky hit a double underhook sitout facebuster and then a double underhook backbreaker. She followed that up with a Bullet Train attempt, but missed. Morgan attempted to hit Oblivion, but Sky caught her.
  • Sky hit a unique face plant on Morgan, then used Morgan’s own finisher Oblivion on her. That got another very close two-count, and the Minneapolis fans went crazy again with chants of “This is awesome!” Sky missed the Over the Moonsault, and then Morgan nailed a huge Codebreaker off the middle ropes for two. What a nice sequence.
  • Morgan missed Oblivion, and then Sky blasted her with a vicious German suplex on the apron followed by a Bullet Train into the steel ring post, hurting her knee in the process. Sky attempted Over the Moonsault again, but Morgan got the boots up to reverse it.
  • That allowed Morgan to hit Oblivion, but Sky rolled through it. Morgan followed it up with another Oblivion, and this time, she hit it perfectly. That was enough for the 1-2-3 and the win.

WWE SummerSlam 2026 Results: What’s Next For Liv Morgan And Iyo Sky?

After what transpired at WWE SummerSlam 2026, it’s clear that Morgan doesn’t necessarily need The Judgment Day anymore.

When Rodriguez and Perez attempted to interfere, they nearly cost Morgan the match. It was Morgan who defeated Sky on her own, the latest chink in the armor of one of WWE’s best stables of the past decade. The true drama in the faction has centered around Morgan’s dismissals of Perez, the group’s young star who has all the potential in the world to be a world champion one day.

After Morgan retained her Women’s World Championship at SummerSlam despite Perez’s failed attempt to help, WWE appears to be laying the foundation for a seemingly inevitable destruction of The Judgment Day down the road. That dismantling should be built around a feud between Morgan and Perez, with Raquel Rodriguez stuck in the middle.

Morgan continues to prove she is more than capable of succeeding on her own, and the fact that she beat Sky that way is a promising sign for her first successful title defense of this reign.

As for Sky, a clean loss at SummerSlam shouldn’t be taken as a bad sign. Sky and Morgan absolutely tore the house down in the show-opening match of SummerSlam Saturday, which is a testament to WWE’s belief in their abilities. If nothing else, Sky proved that she still has an amazing connection with the crowd, and that should bode well for her.

Though Sky technically lost at WWE SummerSlam, she’s a winner in the sense that fans still love her and her loss won’t send her plummeting down the card like it might for other stars.
