Where Women Can Listen to Lectures in Masjid an-Nabawi
Women can listen to Islamic lessons in Masjid an-Nabawi (Prophet’s Mosque) in Madinah. The lessons are given on the men’s side, and the sound reaches the women’s section.
The men’s lessons are easy to find because their places are well known. The women’s spots are not, except to people who have visited many times or live in Madinah.
You will not see the sheikh while listening. The wooden latticed barriers separate the two sides, and you hear the lesson through them.
Eastern Expansion: Gate 26 and Gate 24
In the Women’s Eastern Section, the lesson can be heard from the furthest front of the women’s side. This is where the transmission from the men’s side reaches.
Route 1: Enter through gate 26 and walk to the very front. Stop at the front of the retractable dome, near the eastern wall of Masjid an-Nabawi (Prophet’s Mosque).
Route 2: Enter through gate 24 and walk diagonally towards the right. Keep going until you reach the brown latticed gates, where a lesson should be audible.
Western Expansion: Gate 17 and Gate 16
In the Women’s Western Section, the lessons can be heard along the edges of the women’s side. The brown latticed barriers mark these edges.
Route 1: Enter through gate 17 and go to the first retractable dome in front of you. Stay on the left-hand side of it.
Route 2: Enter through gate 16 and walk straight to the front until you meet the brown latticed barriers. The lessons can be heard around this spot, under the two domes.

- Sheikh Sulaiman Ar Ruhayli
- Sheikh Abdullah Zahim
- Sheikh Hasan Bukhari
- Sheikh Abdul Latif Ash Shamaani
- Imams of the Haramain, such as Sheikh Sudais
NOTE: Women usually do not see the sheikh but can listen to him.
