The Reality of Halloween In Islam

Halloween is widely celebrated in the West and is based in European and Celtic pagan traditions. It is celebrated every year on the evening of October 31.

Halloween symbolizes the beginning of the ancient Druids’ New Year. It is associated with rituals involving the worship of spirits and devils, as well as the belief that the dead return to their homes during this time.

In short, Halloween is a celebration associated with devil worship and the belief that the spirits of the dead visit their homes. Since praising anyone other than Allah falls under the category of Shirk, celebrating this festival is considered a grave sin for Muslims, as it is associated with praising the devil and those who worship him.

What does Quran say about celebrating Halloween

Dr Muzamil Siddiqi, the former president of ISNA (Islamic Society of North America), stated these two references from Quran, which prohibits Muslims from celebrating this event.

And the other one is this;

Dr. Muzammil Siddiqi further stated in his fatwa that Halloween is an ancient pagan holiday associated with spirits of the dead and witches. Over time, Christians attempted to Christianize it by calling the eve “All Saints’ Day.” Meanwhile, many Christians still consider Halloween a bad holiday and irrelevant to their faith.

Regardless of whether Christians accept it or not, celebrating something that could lead to Shirk is unacceptable for Muslims. Every Muslim should actively educate fellow Muslims who participate in Halloween and explain that associating partners with Allah is a grave sin that Allah will never forgive if a person dies without repenting from it.
