Quba Mosque Sets 10 Rules for Wedding Ceremonies
- Marriage contracts at Quba Mosque are now limited to 25 guests and 30 minutes

- Food, dowry boxes, cameras and children under six are barred from ceremonies
The Al Madinah Region Development Authority has set 10 conditions for holding marriage contracts inside Quba Mosque, covering guest numbers, timing, and photography rules across 16 designated locations.
16 Locations, 10 Conditions
The 16 locations are split between the right and left arcades and the eastern and western outer courtyards. Applicants can request a permit and choose their preferred time and location free of charge, but must stay within the location stated on their permit.
Each contract can have no more than 25 attendees. Proceedings must begin 15 minutes after prayer time and cannot run longer than 30 minutes. Attendees must remain within the designated arcade area for the full duration.
What’s Banned Inside
Food and drinks are not allowed, except for Saudi coffee and dates. Dowry boxes, gifts, and giveaways are also prohibited. Attendees must not block the movement of visitors or disturb worshippers, and must leave the site clean once the contract concludes.
Cameras require a permit, though mobile phone photography is allowed without one. Children under six are not permitted at the ceremony. The mosque administration can cancel a permit if any condition is broken.
Why the Rules Were Introduced
The Authority introduced the rules after the number of marriage contracts held inside mosques increased, particularly at Quba Mosque. The designated locations, attendee limits, timing rules, and photography conditions are meant to protect visitor movement and maintain a calm environment for worshippers.

Quba Mosque is regarded as the first mosque built in Islam. It holds around 20,000 worshippers and sits about 3 kilometers from Masjid an-Nabawi (Prophet’s Mosque), connected to it by Quba Avenue, which visitors can walk between the two sites.
