UFC Macau Main Event: Song Yadong Vs. Deiveson Figueiredo

Song Yadong enters Saturday’s event with a 22-9-1-1 record, while Deiveson Figueiredo heads into the bout with a 25-6-1 mark. Song is the No. 5 fighter in the UFC’s official 135-pound rankingswhile Figueiredo checks in at No. 7.

This is an important matchup for the bantamweight division and the futures of both competitors. The 28-year-old Song has been near the top of the division for a few years, however, recent losses to former UFC champ Sean O’Malley and Petr Yan have kept him from earning a shot at UFC gold. At 38, Figueiredo, who is 1-3 in his past four outings, is desperately in need of a victory if he hopes to get a chance at the bantamweight title before his career ends. Figueiredo is coming off a decision loss to Umar Nurmagomedov at UFC 324. The ex-125-pound champ also came in overweight for that bout.

When the betting line opened for Song vs. Figueiredo, Song was the -300 betting favorite over the +250 Figueiredo. Today, Song is listed at -600, while Figueiredo checks in as the +425 betting underdog.
