UFC 327 Main Card Set With Two Title Fights

Barring a draw, the UFC will crown a new light heavyweight champion on Saturday, April 11, when the fight promotion makes its annual stop at Kaseya Center in Miami. Florida. In addition to that title fight, the flyweight belt will be on the line in the co-main event of UFC 327.

With Alex Pereira abandoning the UFC light heavyweight belt to pursue a title in a third UFC weight division — he faces Ciryl Gane for the interim heavyweight strap at the UFC White House card — former 205-pound titleholder Jiri Prochazka battles Carlos Ulberg for the vacant 205-pound title in the headliner of UFC 327. In the UFC 327 co-main event, UFC 125-pound titleholder Joshua Van puts his title on the line for the first time. Van faces Tatsuro Taira in that scrap.

UFC 327 Main Event: Jiri Prochazka vs. Carlos Ulberg

Jiri Prochazka (32-5-1) entered the UFC in 2020 with a 26-3-1 record. At the time, he was coming off a knockout win over former UFC fighter C.B. Dollaway, which earned him the Rizin light heavyweight title.

Prochazka was riding a 10-fight winning streak ahead of his UFC debut, with nine knockout wins.

The former Rizin champ announced himself to UFC fans with a second-round knockout of former UFC light heavyweight title challenger Volkan Oezdemir at UFC 251. The UFC awarded Prochazka a “Performance of the Night” bonus for that knockout. He followed that stoppage with another knockout, decking another ex-UFC title challenger, Dominick Reyes, in the second round of their UFC on ESPN main event matchup.

The UFC, sensing it had something special in Prochazka, then booked him for a title shot. That fight came in June 2022 against reigning champ Glover Teixeira. That fight was a spirited affair, but Prochazka once again scored a stoppage victory when he picked up his first submission in more than nine years, winning the scrap in the fifth round via rear-naked choke.

Prochazka’s title reign was short-lived. A nasty shoulder injury forced him to withdraw from a scheduled rematch against Teixeira, and he vacated the title at that time.

Prochazka made his return to the UFC Octagon in November 2023 against former UFC middleweight champ Alex Pereira. Their UFC 295 headlining bout was for the vacant light heavyweight crown. Pereira claimed the belt with a second-round knockout win, handing Prochazka his first loss since ex-Strikeforce light heavyweight kingpin Muhammed Lawal decked him in late 2015.

Prochazka bounced back from that defeat with a “Performance of the Night” bonus-winning knockout of Aleksandar Rakic at UFC 300.

That win earned Prochazka another shot at Pereira and his title. That bout headlined UFC 303 in June 2024. Pereira retained his belt with a second-round knockout win.

Prochazka followed that setback with back-to-back third-round knockout wins. Stopping Jamahal Hill at UFC 311and Khalil Rountree at UFC 320. He earned “Performance of the Night” bonuses for both stoppages and added a “Fight of the Night” bonus for the Rountree matchup. Prochazka is the No. 2 ranked fighter in the official UFC light heavyweight rankings.

Carlos Ulberg (13-1) made his UFC debut in March 2021 after winning a contract on a Dana White’s Contender Series card. Ulberg’s knockout win on the DWCS moved his record to 5-0. At the time Ulberg was known mostly as a member of the City Kickboxing team out of Auckland, New Zealand. Today, he is Carlos Ulberg, the N0. 6 ranked fighter in the UFC’s light heavyweight division.

Ulberg’s official UFC run began at UFC 259 with a loss. Kennedy Nzechukwu knocked out Ulberg in a Fight of the Night bonus-winning scrap on that night in March 2021.

Since that defeat, Ulberg has gone 9-0 with six stoppage victories. The 35-year-old has earned five UFC knockouts and one submission, while racking up four fight-night bonuses.

In his three most recent fights, Ulberg has wins over Volkan Oezdemir, Jan Blachowicz and Dominick Reyes. Oezdemir and Reyes are former UFC title challengers, while Blachowicz is an ex-champ. Ulberg’s most recent win was his Fight Night main event first-round knockout of Reyes in September 2025. The Reyes stoppage came after back-to-back three-round decision wins. Ulberg is the No. 3 ranked UFC 205-pounder.
