James Vanderbilt Credits Russell Crowe In His ResolveTo Get ‘Nuremberg’ Made

Nuremberg filmmaker James Vanderbilt spent about 13 years trying to get the movie to the big screen, according to USA Today. Luckily, the writer-director said Russell Crowe stuck by him throughout the long process to make sure that the film would get made.

“There were many times Russell could’ve left; he could have been like, ‘Guys, I don’t think this is going to happen.’ But he stuck with it,” Vanderbilt told USA in a red carpet interview in November. “And because of him, we were able to get the financing and get Rami Malek into the movie. And then we were off to the races. But without these two guys, this movie wouldn’t be here right now.”

Vanderbilt adapted his screenplay for Nuremberg from the author Jack El-Hai’s 2013 novel The Nazi and the Psychiatrist: Hermann Göring, Dr. Douglas M. Kelley, and a Fatal Meeting of Minds at the End of WWII.
