Saudi Arabia has announced the anticipated timeframe for the start of the holy month of Ramadan for the year 1447 AH.
According to astronomical calculations, the first day of Ramadan is expected to fall on either Tuesday, February 17, or Wednesday, February 18, 2026.
As per established procedure, the official commencement will be determined by the Supreme Judicial Council’s official sighting of the crescent moon (hilal) at the end of the month of Sha’ban 1447 AH.
The sighting committee will convene to verify reports, after which an official announcement will be made nationally. The first day of fasting would then begin the morning following the confirmed sighting.
Based on the projected start, Eid al-Fitr is preliminarily estimated to fall around Wednesday, March 18, to Saturday, March 21, 2026. The exact date will similarly be confirmed by the official sighting of the Shawwal crescent moon.
Residents, pilgrims, and visitors are advised to follow the official announcements from the Saudi authorities for final confirmation of all dates and corresponding arrangements.
