Key Facts
In a statement on Xthe Pima County Sheriff’s Department said its deputies “detained a subject during a traffic stop south of Tucson.”
The detained individual was being “questioned in connection to the Nancy Guthrie investigation.”
It is unclear if police believe the detained individual is the masked person seen in the footage from Guthrie’s front door camera.

What To Watch For
NBC News reported that the Pima County Sheriff’s Department and FBI’s Evidence Response Team were conducting a court-authorized search at a site in Rio Rico, Arizona, as part of the Guthrie investigation. The search operation is expected to last several hours, the report added. According to the New York Times, the person being questioned was detained in Rio Rico but it is unclear if the property being search belongs to them. Rio Rico is located 60 miles south of Tucson, close to the border with Mexico and the Times report noted that it serves as a “key transit point” for smugglers.
This is a developing story.
