7:48 pm: Turkey detains Israeli soccer player over Gaza war message during match
An Israeli soccer player was detained on Sunday as a Turkish prosecutor launched a criminal probe into a suspected incitement of public hatred. Sagiv Yekhezkel’s purported crime was to have displayed a message on a wrist bandage reading “100 days. 7.10,” after scoring a goal for his team Antalyaspor against rival Trabzonspor. 3:30 pm: Palestine-Iran Asian Cup clash overshadowed by Gaza war
There were pleas for peace and sporadic pro-Palestinian demonstrations in Doha Sunday as the team’s opening match of the Asian Cup against Iran fell on the 100th day of the war in Gaza.
The 27,619 fans inside the Education City Stadium paused for a moment’s silence for the victims of the conflict, with a solitary shout of “Free Palestine” from one fan cutting through the quiet. Read the full story here.
2:42 pm: West Bank Palestinians decry Israel’s raids as revenge
In Nur Shams refugee camp in Tulkarm, in the occupied West Bank, armed Palestinian militants wandered around and greeted passers-by from the ruins left by an Israeli raid.

11:53 am: US denies Houthi reports of fresh strikes in Yemen
The United States denied Yemeni rebel reports that it carried out new attacks Sunday on rebel targets in Yemen.
Houthi media said US and British strikes had hit rebel-held Hodeida, but a US defense official speaking on condition of anonymity said, “No US or coalition strike occurred today.” Read the full story here.
10:47 am: Israelis dance, sing, pray for Gaza hostages on 100th day of war
On a cold and rainy Sunday in Tel Aviv, hundreds of Israelis joined events to mark 100 days since Hamas militants attacked Israel, sparking a retaliation that has since taken tens of thousands of Palestinian lives.
The crowd’s focus was on the hostages taken by Hamas fighters on Oct. 7, of whom 132 remain in Gaza, according to Israeli officials, though 25 are thought to be dead. Read the full story here.
6:12 am: Will Iran manage to dodge ripple effects of Red Sea tensions?
The Iranian government slammed the United States and the United Kingdom after the two pounded military installations run by Houthi rebels in Yemen in response to the group’s attacks on international navigation in the Red Sea.
In an official statement hours after Thursday’s precision strikes that targeted Houthi radars and weapons storage areas, Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson Nasser Kanani said the attacks “violated Yemeni sovereignty and territorial integrity and had breached international laws.” Our correspondent in Tehran reports.
