Brazilian Teams Dominate At FIFA 2025 Club World Cup

Brazilian clubs have dominated so far at the FIFA 2025 Club World Cup. With just one round of group games to go all four teams from Brazil are top of their respective groups and set for a place in the round of 16.

Group A – Palmeiras

Palmeiras sits pretty at the top of Group A with four points from a possible six. The São Paulo side is unbeaten and yet to concede a goal in the tournament but Lionel Messi will be intending to change that in the next game.

Palmeiras played impressively against Porto in the group opener and could easily have won that game. Then, the Brazilians swept aside Al Ahly of Egypt and need just a draw from the last game against Inter Miami to guarantee a first place finish in Group A.

Group B – Stake

Botafogo certainly did not have the luck of the draw before this tournament. Despite being the South American continental championthe Copa Libertadores winner was placed in Pot 3 ahead of the group stage draw. That meant Group B with opposition as strong as PSG and Atlético de Madrid to contest with.

Having lost some of the stars that won the league and Copa Libertadores double in recent months, Botafogo has been off form since a historic 2024 season. Now, striker Igor Jesus is set for a move to Nottingham Forest of the Premier League. However Jesus has left his mark on this tournament before any transfer, and his goal in the 1-0 victory over PSG means Botafogo is top of Group B.

‘Fogo’ fans have found themselves in a dream; first position. One more point against Atlético would guarantee a top of the group finish. However defeat could be catastrophic as PSG and Atlético could both leapfrog the Rio de Janeiro team on the final day. Nonetheless, Botafogo is one positive result away from what seemed an unlikely inclusion in the round of 16.

Group D – Flamengo

Flamengo is flying after back-to-back wins and a goal difference of +4. The Rio based giant has made a first place finish highly likely as it is the big favourite ahead of the last group game with MLS side LAFC.

Flamengo defeated Chelsea 3-1 last time out. This was a statement victory over an elite Premier League side and it should be no surprise as Flamengo has been in fantastic form in 2025. Flamengo looks set for a tasty round of 16 tie against either Boca Juniors or Benfica in Miami next week.

Group F – Fluminense

Fluminense is the fourth and final Brazilian side topping its FIFA 2025 Club World Cup group. However it must be said that that ‘Flu’ are only on top because of goal difference, level on points with German side Borussia Dortmund. An entertaining comeback victory against Ulsan in the last game saw four goals including a wonderful free kick from Colombia international Jhon Arias.

Fluminense faces Mamelodi Sundowns of South Africa in the final group match. A draw will confirm safe passage to the next round, and should they equal the result of Dortmund against Ulsan then that would be enough to finish first in Group F. Finishing first in this group will likely mean avoiding a particularly tricky tie with Inter Milan in the next round.
