Egypt’s Foreign Ministry said two Egyptian pilgrims died and 25 were injured after their bus crashed near Al-Jumum, a city close to Makkah, while the group was travelling from Medina to perform Umrah.
The Crash
The ministry said the bus was carrying 47 Egyptian pilgrims when the crash happened on Saturday evening. Saudi authorities had not commented on the crash at the time of the ministry’s statement.
The Injured
Of the 25 injured, the ministry said their injuries ranged from light to moderate, with seven admitted to intensive care. The remaining pilgrims received treatment and were discharged from hospitals before being taken to their hotels in Makkah.
