Saudi Arabia has ranked first among G20 nations in personal safety, according to the 2025 Safety Index published by the General Authority for Statistics on 29 June 2026.

The ranking draws on country data in the United Nations SDG 16.1.4 indicators database, which measures the share of people who feel safe walking alone at night near their homes.

Overall Safety Figures

86% of residents described their neighbourhood as “very safe” after dark, with a further 11.7% saying “somewhat safe” — bringing the combined safety rate to 97.7%. Just 0.6% said they felt somewhat unsafe, and 0.1% said very unsafe.
