How To Play Wordle
Wordle is a daily word puzzle game where your goal is to guess a hidden five-letter word in six tries or fewer. After each guess, the game gives feedback to help you get closer to the answer:
- Green: The letter is in the word and in the correct spot.
- Yellow: The letter is in the word, but in the wrong spot.
- Gray: The letter is not in the word at all.
Use these clues to narrow down your guesses. Every day brings a new word, and everyone around the world is trying to solve the same puzzle. Some Wordlers also play Competitive Wordle against friends, family, the Wordle Bot or even against me, your humble narrator. See rules for Competitive Wordle toward the end of this post.

Wordle Bot Analysis
Every day I check Wordle Bot to help analyze my guessing game. You can check your Wordle score with Wordle Bot right here.
STORY just popped into my head and I think it’s the first time I’ve used it as an opener. Lucky for me, it was quite a good opening guess, leaving me with just 24 words and two green boxes. I must have had some leftover vestige of yesterday’s opening guess, FLAME, because I used it for my second guess today. While I earned no new letters, I was left with just two words that I could think of: CURRY and HURRY. Naturally, I went with the one I’d rather be in. Or, well, be in me. CURRY for the win!
Competitive Wordle Score

Erik: 19 points

Today’s Wordle Etymology
“Curry” comes from Tamil karimeaning “sauce,” “relish,” or “spiced dish.” Portuguese traders in South India adopted the word as curryand it entered English in the 16th–17th centuries as a general term for a variety of South Asian dishes cooked with spices and sauce.
