KATSEYE’s Manon Bannerman Announces ‘Temporary Hiatus’ To Focus On Health

KATSEYE’s label HYBE x Geffen announced Friday that member Manon Bannerman is taking a temporary hiatus from the group to focus on her health and wellbeing.

The news came via a statement posted to Weverse by the label. “After open and thoughtful conversations together, we are sharing that Manon will be taking a temporary hiatus from group activities to focus on her health and wellbeing,” the statement read. “We fully support this decision.”

The group confirmed they will continue scheduled activities during Manon’s absence and “look forward to being together again when the time is right.”

Manon Addresses Fans Directly

Meanwhile KATSEYE news account @NewsKatseye on X posted a Weverse message from Manon herself, which said, “Hi friends. I want you to hear this from me, I’m healthy, I’m okay, and I’m taking care of myself. Thank u for checking in! Sometimes things unfold in ways we don’t fully control, but I’m trusting the bigger picture. Thank you for standing by me. I love you endlessly and can’t wait to see you again.”

The Timing

The hiatus comes just weeks after KATSEYE performed “Gnarly” at the 2026 Grammy Awards, where they were nominated for Best New Artist and Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for “Gabriela.” The 23-year-old Swiss-born singer called the Grammy experience surreal in an Instagram post earlier this month: “Of all the places my younger self dreamed herself into… this one still doesn’t feel real.”

KATSEYE — which also includes Daniela Avanzini, Lara Raj, Megan Skiendiel, Sophia Laforteza, and Yoonchae Jeung — formed during the 2023 reality competition series “Dream Academy” and were featured in the Netflix docuseries “Pop Star Academy: KATSEYE.” They debuted in June 2024 with “Debut” and have since scored hits with “Touch” and “Gnarly.”

A Breakout Year

2025 marked KATSEYE’s explosive rise. Their Gap commercial set to Kelis’ “Milkshake” went viral in August, generating 400 million views and eight billion social media impressions. They won Best Performance at the MTV Video Music Awards in September. And in February 2026, they performed at the Super Bowl, further cementing their mainstream crossover appeal. Later this year, they are slated to play Coachella, which now may have to be as a quintet.

The Pressures Of Fame

The group has been open about the pressures of modern stardom. In a November 2025 BBC interview, all six members said they’d received death threats and online harassment. Manon described it as “very terrorizing on the mind.” In a recent interview at the Grammys, she emphasized the importance of mental health support: “We’re always communicating with each other, checking in. That’s so important to us.” The group also revealed they’d hired a group therapist.

Most recently, KATSEYE kicked off 2026 with their Beautiful Chaos Tour and the release of “Internet Girl” on January 2, which debuted at their highest position yet on Spotify’s Daily Global Chart. Manon also released a personal creative project titled “NOT BAD” in late January — a two-minute short film she described as made “with a lot of heart.”

No timeline has been given for Manon’s return.
