7 Eric Dane Movies And TV Shows To Stream This Weekend

Eric Dane died Thursday at age 53, nearly a year after publicly revealing his ALS diagnosis. While he’ll forever be remembered as Dr. Mark Sloan — “McSteamy” — on Grey’s AnatomyDane’s career spanned action thrillers, superhero blockbusters, prestige cable dramas, and rom-coms that showcased a range most casual viewers never saw.

Here are seven essential Eric Dane performances you can stream this weekend:

1. Grey’s Anatomy (Hulu, Netflix, Disney+)

Start here if you’ve never seen it; revisit Seasons 3-8 if you have.

Dane joined Grey’s Anatomy as a guest star in 2006 and became such an immediate phenomenon that he was promoted to series regular by Season 3. That infamous towel scene with Mark Sloan emerging from the shower became what the show itself called “a watercooler moment.” But Dane’s six seasons on the show proved he was more than eye candy. Mark Sloan’s evolution from arrogant homewrecker to devoted father figure and Lexie Grey’s great love gave Dane emotional depth to play. He left the show in 2012 for reasons I will not disclose because they are spoilers. All 22 seasons are streaming on Hulu and Netflix (up to Season 20), with current episodes on ABC and Disney+.

2. Euphoria (HBO Max)

The role that proved Dane could go dark.

As Cal Jacobs, the closeted patriarch whose repressed sexuality manifests as predatory behavior, Dane delivered one of his most unsettling performances. It’s a role that required him to be both sympathetic and monstrous; a man destroyed by shame who destroys others in turn. In a show famous for its unflinching approach to trauma, Dane held his own opposite Zendaya, Hunter Schafer, and Jacob Elordi. He continued filming Season 3 even after his ALS diagnosis; those episodes are set to premiere April 12, 2026. Seasons 1-2 are streaming now on HBO Max.

3. The Last Ship (HBO Max, Prime Video)

Dane’s first lead role after Grey’s Anatomy.

This Michael Bay-produced TNT series cast Dane as Navy Commander Tom Chandler, tasked with saving humanity after a global pandemic wipes out 80% of the population. It’s big, loud, and earnest in a way prestige TV often isn’t — think 24meets Outbreak on an aircraft carrier. Dane carried the show for five seasons (2014-2018), proving he could anchor an action series without leaning on his pretty-boy image. The show’s pandemic storyline hits differently now, and Dane’s performance as a leader trying to hold together a crew while the world collapses has unexpected resonance. All five seasons are on HBO Max and Prime Video.

4. X-Men: The Last Stand (Disney+)

A superhero detour that deserved better.

Brett Ratner’s 2006 X-Men sequel gets a bad rap, but Dane’s brief appearance as Jamie Madrox — “Multiple Man,” a mutant who can create duplicates of himself — is a fun showcase of practical effects and comic book absurdity. He’s a henchman for Magneto (Ian McKellen) in the film’s climactic battle, and while the role is small, it’s a reminder that Dane was willing to embrace genre work before Marvel became Hollywood’s dominant force. Stream it on Disney+ or Hulu.

5. Marley & Me (Rent/Buy on Prime Video, Apple TV, Fandango at Home)

The ensemble role that showed Dane could do warmth.

As Sebastian Tunney, the smooth-talking colleague and foil to Owen Wilson’s John Grogan, Dane plays the kind of guy who gets the glamorous assignments while the protagonist is stuck writing fluff pieces. It’s a small supporting role in a film dominated by Jennifer Aniston, Owen Wilson, and a badly behaved Labrador Retriever, but Dane brings charm without scene-stealing. The 2008 tearjerker remains a reliable cry on a Sunday afternoon. Available to rent or buy on most platforms.

6. Burlesque (Netflix, Rent/Buy on Apple TV, Prime Video)

Camp, sequins, and Cher. What more do you need?

In this 2010 musical starring Cher and Christina Aguilera, Dane plays Marcus, the wealthy real estate developer trying to buy and demolish the titular burlesque club. It’s pure camp — glittery costumes, big musical numbers, a predictable save-the-theater plot — and Dane leans into it without winking. He’s the slick villain in a movie that knows exactly what it is: a showcase for two powerhouse vocalists and an excuse to watch people dance in sparkles. Currently streaming on Netflix or available to rent elsewhere.

7. Bad Boys: Ride or Die (Theaters/Premium VOD)

One of Dane’s final roles before his ALS diagnosis.

Dane appears in the 2024 Bad Boys sequel alongside Will Smith and Martin Lawrence, released just months before he publicly revealed his diagnosis in April 2025. While the film itself is pure popcorn action, knowing Dane was already experiencing early ALS symptoms when filming adds weight to his appearance. His co-star Alexander Ludwig wrote on Instagram after Dane’s death: “Ugh this hurts so much. Will miss you Eric and loved our time together. You were a joy to work with.”

What’s Missing From This List

Dane’s final performances — including his role in Amazon’s Countdown (June 2025) and his guest appearance as a firefighter living with ALS on NBC’s Brilliant Minds (November 2025) — are worth seeking out for those who want to see how Dane used his platform after his diagnosis. In the latter, he played a character confronting the same disease that was killing him, delivering a performance that his co-stars described as “heartbreaking” and “brave.”

“I don’t really have a dog in the fight when it comes to worrying about what people think about me,” Dane told The Washington Post in 2025. “This is more of a: ‘How can I help? How can I be of some service?’”

“If I’m going out, I’m gonna go out helping somebody.”
